A quick shift in focus

After some preliminary searching about, it turned out to be easier to integrate the forum software and private message systems together. So, hey, that part’s done! It did mean that matchmaking got pushed to the back burner for a bit, but now that the major hassles of installation and configuration of those big systems are complete I should be free to start digging into that again.

The site is really shaping up, and while I’m still adding two new tasks for every one I knock off progress is being made in leaps and bounds. The next step will be getting Geospatial support built in so we can find out how far away from you people are! Background work is ongoing to figure out the very best way to match people up, without being a huge hassle. We’ve had a lot of great ideas so far, and are baking them down to distilled goodness.

The current target date for going into Beta is Nov. 1, 2010. It’s pretty aggressive, though, so we’ll see. The high-level roadmap features for that release are:

As you can see, we’ve made a pretty big dent in the to-do list already. As it stands, I expect the early beta to be rough around the edges, but I hope that with the support off the community we’ll be able to iron out the issues pretty quickly.
